Horse Agility is the first internationally competitive equestrian discipline to celebrate the fact that horses have so more to offer than just a fun ride. Equuality wants to help you to discover the joy of Horse Agility.
The essence of Horse Agility is a horse and human partnership using exemplary groundwork skills, communication, and imagination to navigate obstacles
Agility has been around for as long as horses and humans have been partnering to make each other's lives more fruitful. As a discipline, Agility has developed from the reawakened understanding that communication on the ground is the foundation of great horsemanship. This understanding has led individuals world wide to hone groundwork skills to the point of being an art form.
As a sport, Horse Agility is the first internationally competitive equestrian activity to reward relationship and communication over arbitrary goals and to focus on ground skills alone. One of the major things that separates Horse Agility from other equestrian sports is that the competitions are designed to be fun for horses and humans of all levels.
Horse Agility is for anyone who wants to have tons of fun using the tools of horsemanship to master a challenging activity with their horse as a equal teammate. You don't even need to have the desire or ability to ride (though if you do, Agility will enhance your riding experiences exponentially!)
You can be young or old (or somewhere in the middle), a seasoned horseman or newly-bitten by the bug (or somewhere in the middle), amateur or professional (or somewhere in the middle), involved in high level competition or back-yard play (or somewhere in the middle), fiercely competitive or happy no matter your placing (or somewhere in the middle).
Horse Agility really is for everyone, from the novice to the professional, the mini-pony to the mule.
The reasons are manifold and too long to list, but here are a few:
You are uninterested in riding (because of injury/illness/bad experiences/uncontrollable love of mini-ponies/ethical concerns/any other reason).
You really like to ride, but love deepening your horsemanship skills and relationship on the ground.
You are new to horses and are looking for a way to socialize and learn great foundation skills.
Your equine companion is too old/small/uninterested for traditional competitive disciplines.
You love to have fun, you love for your horse to have fun, and you think what you do together should be recreation for both of you.
All you need is a space to play with your horse, some basic obstacles (a ground poll or two, a tarp, maybe an exercise ball or hula-hoop), and a dash of imagination. Just play and see what you and your horse can come up with!
To become involved with the sport of Horse Agility is also quite easy. Each month the international Horse Agility Club hosts a video competition
Members of the club are provided with a course diagram, description of obstacles, and a video walkthrough. They can practice as much as they want and then, when they're ready, upload an unedited video of their best effort to YouTube for judging. It's a wonderful way for individuals or groups to start getting involved with the competitive side of things.
Horse Agility is growing at an amazing rate. Soon individuals will also be able to join local clubs and participate in local, regional, and national competitions.
In response to the international interest in Horse Agility, I am considering developing online Explore Horse Agility home study materials that will include videos, eBooks and an email-based course and would launch late this spring.
These materials will give you easy access all the information you need to get started with Agility training, or to incorporate Agility with your current training program (Agility is totally compatible with all other disciplines).
If you are interested in an online Horse Agility course, please let me know by entering your email address below. I'll keep you up to date as development progresses.

We teach Equuality Horse Agility clinics throughout the United States and abroad. They are the perfect experience for those looking to get hands on with an experienced Agility trainer.
In a Discover Horse Agility single day clinic we spend the morning discussing foundation principles, exploring Agility exercises, and workshopping obstacles. In the afternoon, we introduce the Horse Agility Club show format and share the experience of a no-stress mini-competition.
An Explore Horse Agility multi-day clinic is similar to the Discover experience, but with a lot more depth. We spend more time with specific obstacles and get deeper into the tools, techniques, and principles we use to develop true partnership with our horses through Agility.
All clinics include a variety of topics, including but not limited to: Behaviorism, Natural Horsemanship techniques, Clicker Training methods and Horse/Human Psychology.
See the Experiences page for a listing of dates and information about organizing an Equuality Horse Agility Experience in your area.
